Tree Inventories of Central New York

Today's successful community forestry programs rely on tree inventories as an effective management tool.  The inventory records conditions and maintenance requirements of the community forest, targets problem trees and prioritizes removals and trims.  Because of the technical nature of the data to be recorded and retrieved, and the critical assessment of hazards inherent in trees, it becomes necessary to have a qualified and trained person to conduct the inventory.  Often, municipalities will use volunteers to take an inventory as a cost-cutting strategy.

However, if a tree is misdiagnosed as having no defect and the tree falls on somebody's property, incurring thousands of dollars damage, then the municipality is liable for the damage.  This can be prevented by spending a fraction of the cost on a professional inventory.

I am a trained community forester, and will customize your inventory to suit your needs.  I will provide you with a proposal, the actual inventory with spreadsheet and floppy disk, results and recommendations for a fraction of the cost a larger company would charge.

I specialize in:
Hazard Tree Evaluation
Species Identification
Site Assessment and Plant Selection

I also inventory parks, natural areas and estates.
